Neighbors, Friends, Energy and the “Reality or Politics” of Global Warming.
South Florida has gone thru great changes in the past ten years that I have called Florida my home. More and more people are becoming our neighbors as they become aware of what a beautiful place we live in. Wilma and her friends Charley, Francis and Jeanne reminded us hurricanes can harm all buildings whether on the coasts or inland. And then our non-friends, that control the flow of oil to our homes and vehicles, have reminded us that we have very little control over the cost of energy. And finally, both environmentalists and politicians and just regular people, have brought to our great cities the “discussion” of global warming and what it could mean to Florida.
But as many great men and woman before us have discovered, change and/or problems are nothing to run from; change and problems are opportunities to generate new and better solutions to improve ours and our children’s lives.
